The Kerala State Election Commission will begin counting of votes today at 8 am for 21,893 wards in 1,200 local bodies which went to polls in three phases

The SEC said that all arrangements have been made for the counting of votes to be held on December 16, which will start at 8 am.

Counting would be held in sync with the COVID-19 protocol. Postal votes, including the special votes polled by COVID-19 patients, would be counted first. Counting of votes polled to the three-tier panchayaths would be held at the block-level centres where the electronic voting machines are kept in safe custody. Counting to municipalities and corporations would be held in the respective local body where the machines are kept.

A total of 70,27,534 people, including 32,87,029 men, 37,40,486 women and 19 transgender people cast their votes in the four districts. Polling for 6,867 wards in 354 local bodies held from 7 am to 6 pm on Monday.
